The Festive Season Never leave Christmas shopping until December. Christmas is on the 25th December every year. Keep a list of gift recipients in your purse or wallet and start looking around for gifts in January. - HAVING PEOPLE FOR CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS? - Complete an audit of Christmas crackers, Christmas serviettes, Christmas cards, Poppers etc - you may not need to buy any this year! Keep all these types of items in a big plastic box marked CHRISTMAS and each year it will be less hassle to find them!
- GIFT IDEAS BOOK - Buy a small blank book, label each page with the name of a relative or friend that you give gifts to. Write a list of items they like or mention. For example, if their favourite colour is purple or they mention they love a particular perfume, write it down. Take the book shopping with you for ideas.
- TANGLED CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTS? - Cut out this template on thick cardboard as below and wrap the lights around. Saves a lot of frustration each year.
- THEME IT! - Theme your Christmas gifts and shop in great places. It saves running around to lots of different stores. Give everyone:
- GARDEN RELATED PRODUCTS. Shop at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens Shop, Perry's Nut & Fruit Nursery on Kangarilla Road at McLaren Flat, Southern Native Plant Nursery on Chalk Hill Road at McLaren Vale or Adelaide Plant Growers on States Road at Onkaparinga Hills.
- COOKING/FOOD RELATED PRODUCTS. Shop at the Adelaide Central Market, Willunga Farmers Market, Giganis Brothers in Hindmarsh, Angas Park Fruits in the Barossa, buy vouchers to your favourite local restaurant
- WINE RELATED PRODUCTS. Shop at the Fleurieu Peninsula Tourist Centre in McLaren Vale
- an Adelaide Professional Organiser gift voucher for something a little different!
- WHAT TO DO WITH CHRISTMAS CARDS - Use pinking shears to cut around the best part of the picture and make gift tags for next year! Do this while watching the cricket! Alternatively, cut off the picture on the front and send as a Christmas postcard the following year.
- BOXING DAY LEFTOVERS - Got BBQ Chicken left? Make chicken & sweetcorn soup and pack in the freezer. Got ham off the bone left? Make savoury muffins and freeze for kids lunches or make hawaiian pizzas. Turkey? Turkey, cranberry sauce and lettuce roll for lunch.
